Whether you’re new to Facebook ads or you’ve been running them for a while it’s more than likely that you’ve dealt with a rejected ad in the past. This can obviously be very frustrating and can lead to your whole ad account being blocked by Facebook.
Why are my Facebook ads being rejected?
Now we know what do to if our ads are rejected, we should be aware of why they’re being rejected in the first place so we can make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Here are five reasons your Facebook ad might get rejected.
1. Mistaken grammar
We’re all humans, we all make grammatical mistakes from time to time but when it comes to your Facebook ad be sure to double, and triple check your ad copy to ensure it is all spent correctly and readable to the audience. Facebook will not publish anything that will tarnish their reputation so keep that in mind.
2. inappropriate content
This goes without saying really any content that could be deemed inappropriate will instantly be rejected! So, if you’re unsure whether it’s appropriate it’s probably not worth the risk.
3. Watch out for destination URLs
This relates to people who cloak their URLs, so sending links to word documents, PowerPoints or PDFs as opposed to live websites will get your ads rejected and potentially your ad account permanently blocked. The URL guidelines are very specific so be sure to double-check the Facebook guidelines before linking your ad to a URL you’re unsure about.
4. Make sure your offer is clear and specific
Facebook hates ads that are inaccurate so make sure your ad states your company name, offer or product. Additionally, when your ad offers a specific deal or discount you’ve got to ensure that that’s exactly what the user will have available to them when they click on the ad. For instance, if your ad offers a 10% discount but the landing page connected to your ad doesn’t offer this same discount then your ad is deceptive and will be rejected by Facebook.
5. Facebook cares about how they look
Obviously, all ads you create on Facebook reflect the platform. So, for instance, using images that have no relevance to your ad will be something Facebook will pick up as a negative. Another example of unacceptable ad display is when your ad is literally SCREAMING at your audience. So, full words in your copy are in capital letters. This tends to make the ad look like spam and reflects badly on yourself as a business and Facebook as a platform.
What do I do when my Facebook ad is rejected?
When your Facebook ad is rejected, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t be able to run another ad immediately., It may just be that there is something within that specific ad that hasn’t met Facebook’s guidelines and regulations. It’s always great to give them a read before you start your campaigns: https://www.facebook.com/policies/ads/
If the worst has happened and your whole ad account has been blocked, then you may have to provide a copy of your ID to prove that your ad account has not been hacked and that it is you behind the account. This is just for security purposes and your account should be unblocked within a few days. Failing this you can contact Facebook support with any of your ad account issues and they’ll get back to you through a live messenger chat and hopefully explain to you why the issue has occurred and advise you on the best way to fix it: https://www.facebook.com/business/help
